Lucy

Profile

Lucy's birthday is the 12th of December.

Lucy successfully passed all of her courses, enjoyed a summer in Lima with her family and is now back in the swing of secondary school.  She continues to practice good attendance - always working diligently during her time at Seeds.

Lucy is a fashionista! She takes pride in her appearance (in a respectful way of course). She is always very well put together and loves the opportunity to get in front of the camera.

Lucy has established healthy friendships with her peers - as we all know, building and maintaing relationships are one of life's most valued lessons. And at Lucy's age, friendship is a top priority.

September 2015 Sponsorship Update

February - September 2015

Dear Marissa,

Well, it’s been a long school year here in Huaraz, but we’ve had a lovely dry season of sunshine and outdoor activities. We would like to apologise for taking so long to send you an official update as we know it’s been a while now.

Lucy is doing well and working hard, as usual. She is now coming to the final half of her third year of Secondary school. She continues to be the life of the school, always bubbly, smiley and, quite frankly, hilarious. She is a typical teenage girl, of course. A little boy crazy and obsessed with taking selfies, but certainly a head strong and confident young lady who is always ready to speak to us should she be having issues with anything.

Thanks to you and your generosity, Seeds of Hope was able to outfit Lucy with all of the supplies and uniforms necessary to attend public school - for this we are grateful.

As you probably remember, Lucy continues to practice good attendance, working diligently during her time at Seeds. She does require a bit of additional attention at times and support to ensure that she completes her tarea.

Thank you for your continued support!

April 2014 Update & Photo Gallery

Jan, Feb, March and April 2014

Dear Marissa,

Now that Spring has sprung….wait, it is actually the beginning of the Winter season here in the Southern Hemisphere even though it feels like Spring with the sunny mornings and the late afternoons showers.

Lucy recently started a new school year and is fully equipped with supplies (thanks to you). As always, Lucy is doing well at school. During our morning sessions she is often one of the first students to arrive and needs no reminder to get settled and started on her homework.
Thank you for your continued support with Lucy!

Kindly,
Seeds of Hope

December 2013 Update & Photo Gallery

Lucy's birthday is the 12th of December. She is 12 years old.

Lucy successfully passed all of her courses and is currently enjoying summer vacation. She continues to practice good attendance, working diligently during her time at Seeds.

Lucy has established healthy friendships with her peers - as we all know, building and maintaing relationships are one of life's most valued lessons. And at Lucy's age, friendship is a top priority.

Lucy loves to flash the peace sign or make heart shapes with her hands during every photo opportunity.

Dear Marissa,

We hope the New Year finds you well with almost one month under its belt. We would like to thank you for your continued support with Lucy and Seeds of hope.

As a recent volunteer, you are familiar with our Paso a Paso (step by step) program, designed and implemented by our previous resident social worker. This program is focused on helping our kids identify their strengths and abilities, set goals and determine how to achieve them. Our social worker went to great lengths to make this program sustainable by producing quality resources and instructions for future volunteers to use.

We are happy to report that this program is still in place - Seeds of Hope has been fortunate to have two volunteers, with respective backgrounds in Occupational Therapy and Psychotherapy, dedicate their time to the continuation and advancement of the program.

Through Paso a Paso, we have learned more about Lucy and how she sees herself. She was able to open up to our volunteer and spoke about her future. Lucy is enthusiastic about helping people and
feels achievement when she helps her mother. She also mentioned recently that she enjoys watching films.

In other news, the students are now on summer vacation. Days before school let out, Lucy participated in our recent Santa Dash fundraiser. She played a critical role in planning the event, helping us recruit participants. click here to see the complete story or follow this link: http://seedsofhoperu.blogspot.com/2013/12/santa-dash-fun-run-2013.html.

As mentioned, the addition of Wi-Fi and multiple computers at our school has helped all of our students complete assignments. We are better equipped to organise a skype session between you and Lucy. If you are interested in arranging a skype chat please send us an email at seedsofhoperu@hotmail.com and we would be more than happy to set this up.

Many thanks,
The Seeds of Hope Team
