Grimaldo's Piggy Bank Project

During the summer months at Seeds, Grimaldo (an Alumnus of Seeds), was responsible for teaching six students every morning in the Salon Verde (our green classroom). Depending on the day, Grimaldo spent the first hour and a half focusing on Math or Communication.

After the lesson finished, our teachers and volunteers were encouraged to conduct an ongoing creative craft project. Some students made pencil holders, adorned with yarn, beads and popsicle sticks. The students in the Salon Verde were busy crafting something unique using our empty yogurt containers.

Grimaldo surprised us all with his creative piggy bank idea. Our empty yogurt cartons have been diverted from the basura (trash) and transformed into
a holding unit for our student's coins -- a lesson that helped convey the concept of saving.

You can't help but squeal an 'awwwwwee' upon seeing these little piggies.
