Workshop: My Feelings

:: Workshop designed by Profesora Line ::

It is not easy for anybody to talk about emotions and sometimes it's even difficult to identify our feelings in a specific situation. The main goal of this activitiy was to allow the children to talk about feelings and get to know different ways to deal with them.

The activity:
  • Cards that represent faces with different emotions are distributed to the kids.
  • The activity leader present different situations of daily living of two hypothetical kids, a boy and a girl their age, and the kids have to identify the emotions that they believe those kids are feeling in these situation. Talking about somebody else is a less threatening way to talk about emotion and themselves. They are informed that there is not a bad answer, that people feel sometimes different for a same situation. For answering, they use the emotions'cards and a discussion follow.
  • For each situation, we discuss of ways to deal with those emotions. A list of different solutions is presented to them. We encourage them to open up to somebody about their feelings (friend, family, teacher) but give them also ways to deal with it on their own.
  • At the end, we give them a sheet of paper to write down the solutions they believe would help them when they don't feel good. This, they keep for themselves as a reminder.
