The Four Food Groups
Workshop designed by Profesora Kathy
Thanks to your ongoing generosity, the nutrition project continues to grow at Seeds and education on healthy food decisions will always be a project priority. In addition to the children enjoying the protein rich additions in their daily snack, one of our Volunteers took nutrition education one step further by designing an interactive workshop that focused on four food groups.
Kathy, a recent energetic Canadian volunteer, divided the class into four teams and assigned a different food group. She encouraged the children to identify the importance of making healthy decisions related to diet. After the team brainstorm, the children shared their new knowledge by presenting to the the rest of the class. Each team placed images of assigned food group into the associated category.

Presenting in front of peers can be a challenge for some students, but this activity provided an opportunity for the children to find comfort in their voice. Following group presentations, the children partook in a taste test -- activity happily welcomed after 'speeches.' The taste test aimed to help the children identify exactly which food group their sample belonged.
