PAINTING OUR WALL MURAL :: You Win Some, You Lose Some

So, it's with a heavy heart that I have to inform you all that our wonderful mural in the front of our school was knocked down this week. This was painted by some of our volunteers last year and it really did make the place look wonderful.

Sadly, the building next door has been completely demolished and the wall was sat on their property. Our old neighbors very kindly allowed us to paint the wall with the kids last year. We can only hope that when the new building is up that our new neighbors will allow us to repaint the new wall! So, if there's any one out there with a creative eye who would be interested in volunteering with us and helping with a new mural wall, then get in touch!

Here is a little before and after of the wall in question!

However, over this summer some of our volunteers came up with an awesome design for our little recreation area in the back of the school. We use this area to play football or volleyball, it is also where our sink is where the kids wash their hands and brush their teeth.

When we first moved into the property, the wall and building behind us wasn't there, so we had a larger area for the kids to play. Since the new building was put in we've a had a rather bleak looking space back there. So, we decided it was time to brighten the place up! With a bunch of our volunteers and the help of the kids I think we've created something spectacular.

I thought I would just add a little photo blog here of the painting process as we've just officially finished the mural last week. Enjoy! :)

As the Latin America Cup was on during the summer we decided to paint a flag wall as well!

And, before we knew it, the incredible final result fell into place!

Are you interested in volunteering? Do you have a creative eye and a few ideas for art projects that we could do with our kids? Please get in touch at seedsofhoperu@hotmail.com!
